CAT 2026 Form Edit Window Opens Oct 5 at 10 AM: Only 3 Fields You Can Change

If you filled out the CAT 2026 application in a hurry, you get one small window to fix it. IIM Indore will open the CAT 2026 application correction window at 10 AM on Monday, October 5, and it stays open for just over a day, closing at 5 PM on Tuesday, October 6. All edits happen on the official CAT portal, iimcat.ac.in.

Here is the catch that many students miss. You cannot change everything. Only three fields are open for editing: your photograph, your signature, and your test state or city preferences. Everything else in your form is locked.

The window stays open for only 31 hours

This is not a long edit period, so treat it like a deadline you cannot miss. The correction facility opens at 10 AM on October 5 and closes sharp at 5 PM on October 6. IIM Indore has said no extensions will be given after that.

A short window also means the portal gets crowded in the final hours. Do not wait until the evening of October 6. Finish your edits on October 5 itself if you can.

Only candidates who completed registration and paid the application fee can use this window. Registrations closed in September, so this is not a second chance to apply. It is only a fix window for those already registered.

Only your photo, signature, and test cities can be edited

The official CAT portal will let you change exactly three things:

• Photograph: replace a blurred, dark, or non-compliant photo with a fresh one.
• Signature: upload a clear signature if the earlier one was smudged or unclear.
• Test state/city preferences: revise your ranked list of preferred exam cities.

Every other detail stays locked. Your name, date of birth, email address, mobile number, academic records from Class 10 to graduation, reservation category, and work experience cannot be edited at this stage. If you entered a wrong detail in any of these fields during registration, this window cannot save you. Check each locked field now so you know where you stand.

The edit window opens only once in the whole CAT 2026 cycle. Once you submit your updated form, no further changes will be allowed. Review every edit twice before saving.

How to make the corrections in 7 simple steps

When the window goes live on October 5, follow this order:

1. Go to the official CAT website, iimcat.ac.in.
2. Click on the CAT login link for registered candidates.
3. Log in with your CAT user ID and password.
4. Open your submitted application form and look for the correction or edit tab.
5. Change only the fields that are open: photo, signature, or test city preferences.
6. Read the updated form carefully, accept the declaration, and submit.
7. Download and save a copy of the revised application confirmation for your records.

There is no processing fee for making corrections. Keep your login details and the corrected photo and signature files ready before the window opens, so you do not waste time on October 5.

Keep the photo and signature rules in mind

Most form edits fail because the new upload also breaks the rules. Use a recent passport-size photograph with a plain background, and make sure your face is clearly visible. Sign on white paper with a dark pen, then scan or photograph it cleanly. A shaky or oversized signature is the most common reason uploads get rejected.

For test city preferences, think about travel before you reorder your list. You can only pick from the available cities, and your slot on exam day comes from this choice. Pick cities you can actually reach early in the morning, because session allotment depends on your admit card, which will be released on November 4.

What happens after the window closes

Once corrections are done, the next big date is the admit card release. CAT 2026 admit cards will be available for download from November 4 on iimcat.ac.in. The exam itself is on Sunday, November 29, held in computer-based mode across three sessions: morning from 8:30 AM, afternoon from 12:30 PM, and evening from 4:30 PM.

CAT 2026 is conducted by IIM Indore, and scores are used for admission to management programmes at the IIMs and many other MBA admissions in 2026. Results are expected in the first week of January 2027.

If you are tracking other entrance exams too, keep an eye on CUET UG 2026 key details and the latest admit card updates on this portal, so no deadline slips past you.
