Only 13 Days Left: CLAT 2027 Registration Closes Oct 31, Law Entrance Exam on Dec 6

If you want a seat in a National Law University through CLAT 2027, the clock is running out. Registration for the Common Law Admission Test closes on October 31, 2026, which leaves just 13 days from today. The exam-conducting body will not accept any application after the window closes, so waiting for the last day is risky.
The Consortium of National Law Universities runs CLAT every year. It is the single gateway to the five-year integrated LLB programmes and the one-year LLM programmes of the participating National Law Universities for the 2027-28 academic session. The exam will be held on December 6, 2026, and the syllabus and exam pattern remain unchanged this year.
The dates you must not miss
CLAT 2027 registration opened on August 3, 2026. The last date to submit the application form is October 31, 2026. The exam will be conducted in offline mode on December 6, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm across the country.
Servers slow down on the final days of any big exam registration. Fill the form early instead of fighting the traffic on October 30 or 31. Keep a downloaded copy of the filled application form for your records.
Who can apply: eligibility in simple words
For the undergraduate programme, you must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board. General category students need at least 45% marks in Class 12. SC and ST students are eligible with 40%.
For the postgraduate programme, you must have completed an LLB from a university recognised by the Bar Council of India. The minimum score is 50% in graduation. For SC and ST candidates, it is 45%.
What the application will cost you
The fee is paid online through UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking. Students from the General, OBC, PwD, NRI, PIO and OCI categories pay Rs 4,000. Students from the SC, ST and BPL categories pay Rs 3,500.
Pay only through the official portal and save the payment receipt. If a payment fails but the money leaves your account, wait before trying again, and check the portal’s payment status section first.
How to apply: step-by-step guide
- Go to the official CLAT website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in, and open the CLAT 2027 tab on the homepage.
- Click on “New Registration” and sign up with your name, mobile number, email ID, and a password.
- Log in and open the application form. Fill in your personal and academic details carefully.
- Choose up to three preferred exam cities during registration.
- Upload your photograph, signature, and documents in the prescribed format.
- Pay the application fee online and download the completed form. Take a printout and keep it safe.
Before you start, go through a proper college admission documents checklist so you are not hunting for papers mid-form. The form asks for a valid ID proof like Aadhaar, PAN card, or driving licence, a recent photograph, a scanned signature, your state domicile certificate, and your Class 10 and 12 marksheets.
Pick your exam cities with care
You can select up to three preferred exam cities while filling the form. Choose cities you can actually reach on exam day, and keep travel and stay plans in mind. The Consortium allots centres based on your preferences and availability, so put your most convenient city first.
Once the registration window closes, no application entries will be accepted by the exam-conducting body.
Not aiming for an NLU? You still have options
CLAT is not the only way into law. Graduates who want the three-year LLB route can look at state-level options. In Maharashtra, for example, the MH CET 3-year LLB Round 4 merit process ran this season, and state law entrance exams continue to open seats for students who miss CLAT.
