JEE Main 2027: NTA's 3-Step DigiLocker Warning Before the Nov 26 Deadline

Follow us on Google

The National Testing Agency has issued a fresh warning for JEE Main 2027 applicants, and it is not about the syllabus or the exam pattern. It is about three small steps that can decide whether your form goes through cleanly or gets stuck later. With the Session 1 registration window closing on November 22 without a late fee, NTA wants every applicant to sort out their DigiLocker login before they sit down to fill the form.

The advisory, issued on October 29, comes days after Session 1 registration opened on October 24 on the official portal jeemain.nta.nic.in. It is aimed at the lakhs of students applying for engineering admission through JEE Main, the gateway to NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions. The message is simple: do the identity homework first, then fill the form.

Step 1: Use only your own DigiLocker or JanParichay login

NTA has asked applicants to log in using their own DigiLocker account, or their JanParichay or e-Pramaan (Meri Pehchaan) credentials. Borrowing a parent’s or a friend’s account is a bad idea. The agency says mismatched identity details can create problems in verification and biometric checks at later stages, including during the exam and counselling.

If you do not have a DigiLocker account yet, create one with your own mobile number and Aadhaar-linked details. Keep the login details safe. You will need the same account again for admit cards and other stages.

Step 2: Finish DigiLocker re-KYC before you start the form

The second instruction is the one most students are likely to skip, and NTA has flagged it clearly. Complete your DigiLocker re-KYC in advance, before you begin the application. Re-KYC refreshes your details in DigiLocker so that the form can auto-fetch your latest information instead of pulling old or incomplete data.

“Use your own DigiLocker or JanParichay credentials, complete the DigiLocker re-KYC in advance, and match your name and date of birth exactly with your Class 10 certificate details.”

That three-point checklist is the heart of the advisory. Students who finish re-KYC first will find several fields already filled when they open the form. That means fewer typing errors and fewer corrections later.

Step 3: Match your name and date of birth with Class 10 records

The third point sounds obvious, but it trips up applicants every year. NTA says the name and date of birth in the application must match the Class 10 certificate or marksheet exactly. Even a small spelling difference between your form and your board certificate can cause trouble during document verification.

Before you type anything, keep your Class 10 certificate next to you. Copy the name and date of birth character by character. If your Aadhaar or DigiLocker record spells your name differently, sort that out first rather than hoping it will not matter.

JEE Main 2027 Session 1: dates you cannot afford to miss

Session 1 of JEE Main 2027 will be held on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28, 2027, in computer-based mode across two shifts each day. Session 2 follows in April 2027. Here is the schedule that matters right now:

  • Registration opened: October 24, 2026
  • Last date without late fee: November 22, 2026
  • Last date with late fee of Rs 500: November 26, 2026
  • Form correction window: November 27 to 29, 2026
  • City intimation slip: December 30, 2026
  • Admit card: January 13, 2027

One point of confusion is worth clearing up. Some reports quote November 26 as the closing date. That is the last date for fee payment with the late fee. The plain deadline, without any extra charge, is November 22. Do not wait for the last day in either case. Servers slow down near deadlines, and a failed payment on the final evening is a stress no applicant needs.

How to apply, step by step

  • Go to the official JEE Main portal and choose the Meri Pehchaan single sign-on option.
  • Sign in with your own DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan account, after completing DigiLocker re-KYC.
  • Fill the form with details matching your Class 10 certificate, and upload the photo, signature and documents in the prescribed format.
  • Pay the fee online and download the confirmation page. Save a copy of it with your application number.

Apply on the official JEE Main portal only. NTA does not accept forms through any other website, and third-party sites that promise to fill the form for you are best avoided.

Why this advisory matters more than it looks

Students who are still preparing should also note what the exam covers. Paper 1 is for B.E. and B.Tech admission, while Paper 2 covers B.Arch and B.Planning. The exam runs in 13 languages, with the first shift from 9 AM to 12 noon and the second from 3 PM to 6 PM.

If you have already applied without completing re-KYC, use the correction window from November 27 to 29 to fix what you can. For the full background, read our earlier guide to JEE Main 2027 registration, and keep your college admission documents ready before you start. More admissions updates land on the section page as NTA releases them.
