Nov 4, 2 PM Deadline: KEA Opens Karnataka PGCET 2026 Extended Round for MBA, MCA, MTech

If you missed a Karnataka PGCET seat so far, you have one more window, and it closes on November 4 at 2 pm. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) opened the extended counselling round for PGCET 2026 on October 31 at 2 pm. This round covers MBA, MCA and MTech seats. The catch is simple and easy to miss: your old choices will not count. You have to enter fresh options before the deadline, even if you filled choices in an earlier round.

KEA is running this extra round after a Supreme Court order dated October 29, 2026, which extended the admission cut-off date and asked the authority to hold another round. The order came in the Parshavanath Charitable Trust case against the All India Council for Technical Education.

Which seats are up for grabs this time

This round looks at two kinds of seats. First, seats that stayed unallotted after the earlier rounds. Second, seats that fell vacant because a candidate did not report to the allotted college. KEA had run a seat allotment round from October 13 to 15, and the seats left over from that round, marked as not reported, now form the base for this extended allotment.

That is why this round matters for students still waiting. A seat that looked full a week ago may be open again because someone else did not take it up. But if you sit out this round thinking your earlier options still stand, you will not be considered at all.

Students tracking Karnataka admissions will know the pattern: each round has its own fresh option entry step, as in the Karnataka PGCET 2026 round 1 process, where reporting on time decided whether a seat stayed with the candidate.

Who can apply, and who cannot

KEA has kept the eligibility list short. You can take part if you got no seat in the earlier rounds. You can also take part if you already reported to your allotted college and now want to try for a better seat. Candidates who cancelled their allotted seat after paying the prescribed penalty are eligible too.

One group is kept out, and this is the part to read twice. Candidates who got a seat in the October 13 to 15 allotment but neither paid the fee nor reported to the college are not eligible for the extended round. KEA had given that group a final chance to sort it out by October 31 at 6 pm: pay the fee and report to the allotted college, or cancel the seat online by paying a penalty of Rs 10,000. That 6 pm window has now closed, so if you were in that group and did nothing, this round is not open to you.

“The extended round is a fresh start, not a continuation. Enter your choices again, in the order you truly want them, before November 4 at 2 pm.”

Dates to write down right now

The schedule is short, so there is little room to recover from a missed step:

  • Caution deposit payment: opened October 31, 2026
  • Fresh option entry: October 31, 2026, from 2 pm to November 4, 2026, till 2 pm
  • Provisional seat allotment result: November 5, 2026, after 1 pm

Put November 4, 2 pm in your phone with a reminder a day early. Portals slow down on the last day, and a half-filled option list at 1:55 pm is a risk you do not need. Fill your choices, check the order once, and submit while you still have time to fix a mistake.

How to enter your fresh options

The whole process runs on the official KEA portal. Keep your PGCET login details ready before you start:

  1. Go to the official KEA website and open the PGCET 2026 section.
  2. Log in with your application number and password.
  3. Pay the caution deposit if the portal asks for it before option entry.
  4. Enter your college and course choices afresh, in your real order of preference.
  5. Check the full list once, from top to bottom, before you submit.
  6. Save a screenshot or printout of the submitted options for your records.

Order matters more than the number of choices. Put the college you would actually join at the top, not the one that sounds best on paper. ## What to do after the November 5 result

When the provisional allotment list comes out after 1 pm on November 5, check it the same day. If you get a seat, read the reporting instructions on the KEA portal at once and note the fee and reporting dates. Seats in an extended round move fast, and a delay in reporting can cost you the seat you just got.

Karnataka’s MBA and MCA aspirants have had a busy week. The KMAT 2026 session 2 registration window closed on October 31, and the NMAT 2026 registration window had already closed on October 25 after an extension. Against that background, the PGCET extended round is the live window still open, and it stays open only till November 4 at 2 pm. Enter fresh options on the official KEA portal now, while the window is still comfortably open.
