Nov 4, 3 PM: Last Chance for MBBS Seats as MCC Opens NEET UG Special Stray Round Today

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened registration for the NEET UG 2026 Special Stray Vacancy Round today, November 2. This is the final central counselling round for MBBS seats this year, and it is being held to fill vacant seats across participating medical colleges. If you qualified NEET UG 2026 and do not have a seat, this window is your last shot through the central quota.

The clock on this round is short. Registration closes at 3 PM on November 4, and the payment window shuts at 6 PM the same day. Choice filling runs from November 2 to November 5, and the allotment result will be declared on November 7. Students who get a seat must report to their allotted college between November 7 and 16.

Nov 4 at 3 PM is the hard stop for registration

The MCC notice for this round was issued on October 30, and it makes one thing clear. Every candidate must complete a fresh registration for the Special Stray Round. Your registration from earlier rounds does not carry forward, so even if you took part in the NEET UG Round 3 seat allotment or a state round, you still need to register again on the MCC portal.

Registration opened at 10 AM today on mcc.nic.in. Keep your NEET UG 2026 roll number, password, and payment details ready before you start. The form asks for personal, academic, and contact details, and you will need to pay the registration and security fee online. Once you submit, download the confirmation page and keep it safe.

This is the final MCC counselling stage for MBBS admission this year. Candidates who miss this window will have no further central counselling chance.

Who can apply, and who cannot

Only candidates who qualified NEET UG 2026 can take part. The bigger condition is about holding a seat. If you already hold an allotted seat under any MCC round, you are not eligible for this round. MCC has also asked state counselling bodies to remove All India Quota allotted candidates from state lists, so your eligibility status needs to be clean before you register.

Students who took part in state counselling should check their state rules too. A seat held in a state round can affect your eligibility, so check the MCC notice and your state counselling portal before the November 4 deadline.

Choice filling: fill carefully, lock before 11 AM on Nov 5

Choice filling and locking runs from November 2 to November 5. Locking opens at 4 PM on November 4 and closes at 11 AM on November 5. That locking step matters more than most students realise. Choices that are filled but not locked may not be counted the way you expect, so finish the locking step well before the cutoff.

Put your most wanted colleges at the top, but be realistic too. This round fills seats left vacant after the earlier rounds, so check the seat matrix on the MCC portal before you fill choices, and include enough options to give yourself a real chance. A short list of only top colleges is the most common mistake in a stray round.

The seat allotment process runs on November 5 and 6, and the result comes out on November 7. If you get a seat, reporting to the allotted college runs from November 7 to 16. Carry your allotment letter, original certificates, and fee receipts when you report, and check the college notice for anything extra it asks for.

BDS and BSc Nursing candidates get a 5th Round too

Along with the MBBS Special Stray Round, MCC is also running the 5th Round for BDS and BSc Nursing seats. It follows the same timeline, and its result will also be declared on November 7. MCC has further notified a 6th Round for BDS and BSc Nursing courses, with registration starting November 17 and the result due on November 20.

That extra round is good news for dental and nursing aspirants, but it does not change the MBBS picture. For MBBS, the Special Stray Round is the end of the line at the central level.

What to do right now

If you are eligible, do not wait till November 4. Portals slow down near deadlines, and payment failures on the last day are common. Register today, fill your choices, and lock them before 11 AM on November 5. Then check the official MCC portal on November 7 for the result.
