Oct 12: NEET PG 2026 Counselling Registration Opens: Dates, Fees, How to Apply

Follow us on Google

Registration for NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling opens on October 12 and closes in just ten days. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the tentative schedule for Round 1, which fills 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats plus 100% of seats in deemed and central universities, DNB seats and AFMS institutions. Register on the official MCC portal between October 12 and October 21 to take part.

Miss the window and there is no way back into Round 1. The seat allotment result comes out on October 24, and students who get a seat must report to their college between October 26 and November 2.

Round 1 key dates: 10 days of registration, result on Oct 24

Registration and fee payment run October 12 to October 21 (up to 12 noon; the payment facility stays open until 3 PM). Choice filling runs October 13 to October 22 (up to 10 AM), with locking between 4 PM on October 21 and 10 AM on October 22. MCC processes allotment on October 22 and 23, declares the result on October 24, and students report to colleges between October 26 and November 2. Institutes verify joined candidates’ data on November 3.

This year admission counselling runs on a dual track: central counselling through MCC, and a parallel state-quota process by each state’s own authority. State quota Round 1 runs October 21 to November 2, with the last date of joining for state seats on November 10. The PG academic session begins November 20.

The most common mistake candidates make is waiting till the last day to register. Servers slow down on October 20 and 21, and payments can fail. Register early and lock your choices before the deadline.

Fees: Rs 1,000 to register for AIQ, Rs 5,000 for deemed universities

Two payments are needed: a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit. For 50% AIQ and central university seats, General and EWS candidates pay Rs 1,000 plus a Rs 25,000 refundable deposit. SC, ST and OBC candidates pay Rs 500 plus a Rs 10,000 refundable deposit. For deemed universities, all categories pay Rs 5,000 plus a Rs 2,00,000 refundable deposit. The deposit comes back only to the account it was paid from, without interest, so do not pay from someone else’s card or an NRI account.

How to register for NEET PG 2026 counselling in 8 steps

Keep your documents ready before you begin:

  • Go to the official MCC counselling portal and open the PG Medical Counselling tab.
  • Click the NEET PG 2026 registration link and choose “New Registration”.
  • Enter your NEET PG roll number, application number, name, date of birth and contact details to generate your login credentials.
  • Log in and fill in your personal, academic and contact details.
  • Upload scanned copies of your MBBS degree certificate, internship completion certificate, NEET PG scorecard and a valid photo ID.
  • Pay the non-refundable registration fee and the refundable security deposit online by card or net banking, as per your category.
  • Fill your preferred colleges and MD, MS or DNB specialities in order of preference from the seat matrix, and lock the choices before the deadline.
  • Submit the form and download the confirmation page for your records.

Seat allotment in every round is based on your NEET PG rank, the choices you fill, your category and the seats available. There is no human discretion in it.

What to keep ready: documents checklist

Carry originals along with scanned copies. You will need the NEET PG 2026 admit card, scorecard or rank letter, Class 10 marksheet or birth certificate, MBBS marksheets and degree certificate, internship completion certificate, medical registration certificate, a valid photo ID, category and disability certificates where applicable, and passport-size photographs.

Rounds 2, 3 and the stray vacancy round

Students who do not get a seat in Round 1 get more chances: Round 2 runs from November 6 to November 14 (joining by November 23), Round 3 from November 26 to December 4 (joining by December 12), and the stray vacancy round from December 16 to December 24 (joining by December 31). This year MCC and state authorities will exchange the data of joined candidates after each round, so a student who has joined a seat cannot hold another one through a different portal.

Dental graduates follow a separate track entirely: the parallel NEET MDS counselling for postgraduate dental seats runs on its own schedule, while UG medical admissions like the Jharkhand NEET UG 2026 Round 3 choice filling are handled by state authorities. Register on the portal that matches your course.
