NEET PG Round 2 Dates Changed: Registration From November 7, Result on November 14

Follow us on Google

The Medical Counselling Committee has changed the dates for NEET PG Round 2 counselling. Registration will now open on November 7, not November 6, and the seat allotment result will come out on November 14.

The change affects thousands of doctors waiting for a postgraduate medical seat. Round 2 covers MD and MS seats under the 50 percent All India Quota, along with seats in deemed universities, central universities, and AFMS institutes.

Why MCC changed the dates

MCC said it received the seat matrix for newly approved seats from the National Medical Commission on November 3. The institutes need time to check that seat matrix and apply the reservation roster, and that work runs till November 6. So the whole Round 2 schedule has moved by a day.

The revised notice is live on the official MCC portal. The dates below come from it.

Registration closes at 12 noon on November 11, and the payment window stays open till 3 PM the same day. Choice filling runs till 10 AM on November 12. Miss the locking deadline and your Round 2 chance is gone, even if you registered on time.

Who can take part in Round 2

All NEET PG 2026 qualified candidates can take part. That includes fresh candidates who did not register in Round 1, candidates who got no seat in Round 1, and those who got a seat but want a better one through upgradation.

Candidates who registered in Round 1 do not need to register again. If you joined a Round 1 seat and you are happy with it, you need not apply again. But if you want to upgrade, you must take part in Round 2 without giving up your current seat first.

Round 1 ended with the NEET PG Round 1 seat allotment result on October 24, and reporting closed on November 2. The NEET PG Round 1 registration had run from October 12 to 21. Round 2 uses an updated NEET PG counselling seat matrix that includes the newly approved seats.

What it costs to register

The fee depends on the type of seat you are applying for. The registration fee is non-refundable, while the security deposit is refunded if no forfeiture applies.

SeatsRegistration feeSecurity deposit
All India Quota, UR/EWSRs 1,000Rs 25,000
All India Quota, SC/ST/OBC/PwDRs 500Rs 10,000
Deemed universities, all categoriesRs 5,000Rs 2,00,000

If you apply for both All India Quota and deemed university seats, you pay only the deemed university amount. Pay from your own bank account, because the deposit is refunded only to the account it came from.

The deposit rule changes from Round 2

This is the biggest change candidates need to understand. In Round 1, you could leave an allotted seat without losing money. That free exit is over now.

From Round 2 onwards, if you are allotted a seat and you do not join, MCC forfeits your security deposit. That means Rs 25,000 gone for an All India Quota seat, and Rs 2,00,000 gone for a deemed university seat. The same rule applies if your admission is cancelled because of wrong information or missing documents.

You can still resign a Round 2 seat within the time MCC allows and move to Round 3, but surrendering it also costs you the deposit. And a Round 3 seat cannot be resigned at all. So fill choices you are ready to accept, not choices you are only testing.

From Round 2, there is no free exit. If you get a seat and do not join it, you lose your security deposit. Think through your choices before you lock them.

How to register for NEET PG Round 2

  1. Go to the official MCC portal and open the PG Medical Counselling page.
  2. Click on new registration and enter your NEET PG 2026 roll number and personal details.
  3. Pay the registration fee and security deposit online through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.
  4. Fill your choices from the live seat matrix, starting with the colleges you want most.
  5. Lock your choices between 4 PM on November 11 and 10 AM on November 12.

Keep your original documents ready before the result comes on November 14. Check the fee and bond of each deemed university on its own website before you lock it in your list.

Round 3 registration is expected to start on November 26, so candidates who miss Round 2 still have another chance.
