Oct 10: NMAT 2026 Registration Ends Tonight: Last Call for NMIMS and MBA Seats

The NMAT 2026 registration window closes tonight, October 10. The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) will stop accepting applications for this year’s cycle after midnight. MBA aspirants who want to sit for the exam, or use the score for NMIMS admission, must finish registration and fee payment today.
Registration happens only online. GMAC does not accept paper forms, offline submissions, or late entries. If you miss tonight, you sit out of this year’s cycle entirely.
Miss tonight, and you wait a year
There is no separate late-registration window for NMAT 2026. GMAC runs the same rule every cycle: after October 10, the system stops taking new applications. That also locks you out of NMIMS Mumbai and the other B-schools that admit through NMAT scores this year.
One detail many aspirants get wrong: registering for NMAT is not enough if you want NMIMS. You must also fill NMIMS’s own separate application. That institute form also closes on October 10, 2026. So even if you register for the exam today, skipping the NMIMS form leaves your NMIMS application incomplete. The same split applies across MBA admissions in India: the exam score and the institute form are two different steps.
The dates that matter now
- October 10, 2026 (tonight): NMAT 2026 registration closes
- October 22, 2026: Exam scheduling closes: the last day to pick your test date, time and centre
- November 2 to December 20, 2026: NMAT 2026 testing window
- November 3 to December 17, 2026: Retake registration opens, after your first attempt
Registering and scheduling are not the same thing. Registration creates your profile and records the fee. Scheduling reserves the actual test slot, and you can only schedule after you register. Popular centres and convenient timings fill up fast, so book early in the scheduling window rather than waiting for the last day.
What it costs
The NMAT 2026 registration fee is Rs 3,000 plus applicable taxes. That covers your first attempt and score reports to five B-schools, which you select during registration.
Two optional costs are worth knowing before you pay. A retake, meaning a second or third attempt, costs Rs 3,000 plus taxes each time. Changing your booked slot costs around Rs 1,200 plus taxes. Sending your score to a sixth school onwards costs Rs 400 per school plus taxes. GMAC sets the fees, so confirm the final amount on the payment page, since taxes are added at checkout.
“If you register on the last day, you still need to book a slot quickly. Popular centres and convenient times can fill up early, so do not wait.”
How to register in five steps
- Go to the official GMAC registration portal and create your NMAT account with a valid email ID and mobile number.
- Log in and fill in your personal details, academic records from Class 10, Class 12 and graduation, plus work experience if any.
- Choose the participating B-schools where your scores should be sent. The first five are included in the fee.
- Upload your photograph in the official format and pay the fee through the available digital payment options.
- Save the payment receipt and the confirmation slip, and keep your login details safe for scheduling.
Before you start, keep a government photo ID, your academic marksheets, a working email and phone number, and a debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI details ready. Most last-minute failures come from missing documents or failed payments, not from the form itself.
What the exam looks like
NMAT 2026 is a computer-adaptive test: the difficulty of questions adjusts based on your answers. You get 108 questions to finish in 120 minutes, split equally across three sections:
- Language Skills: 36 questions, 28 minutes
- Quantitative Skills: 36 questions, 52 minutes
- Logical Reasoning: 36 questions, 40 minutes
Each section is timed separately, and unused time from one section does not carry over to the next. There is no negative marking, so an attempted question can only add to your score. Each question carries three raw marks, and scores are reported on a scaled range of 12 to 120 per section, or 36 to 360 overall.
The biggest strategic difference from other entrance exams: you get up to three attempts in the cycle, and participating colleges generally shortlist on your best score. A bad first day does not end your season. You can choose the order of sections before the test starts, which helps if you perform better when you begin with your strongest area.
Do not wait for the last hour
Portal traffic usually spikes on the final evening, and a payment that fails at 11:55 PM is still a missed deadline. Register, pay, and download the receipt now, then schedule your slot in the days that follow.
And if NMAT is not your exam, other windows are still open this month: the NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling registration opens on October 12, and the Mumbai University CAP admission deadline is October 16.
