If you are on the Tamil Nadu NEET PG merit list and have not finished your Round 1 choices yet, today is your last chance. The registration, payment and choice-locking window for Tamil Nadu NEET PG counselling 2026 closes today, November 3, at 5 pm. The Round 1 result follows on November 5, and students who get a seat must join their college by November 10.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Tamil Nadu, opened this round on October 31 at 12:01 pm. It covers postgraduate degree (MD/MS) and diploma courses for the 2026-27 session in the state’s medical colleges.

Who can take part in this round

Only candidates named in the Tamil Nadu NEET PG state merit list can register in this round. For the government quota, the eligible general rank range runs from 1 to 7,952, with NEET marks from 705.64 down to 226. For the management quota, the range is general rank 1 to 3,643, with marks from 625 down to 226.

Seats in this round cover government medical colleges, government quota seats in self-financing colleges, and management, minority and NRI quota seats in self-financing colleges. The round also includes the specified 20 per cent and 50 per cent seats at Christian Medical College, Vellore. Students applying under both government and management quotas can fill preferences for both categories in the same round.

The dates you cannot afford to miss

The full Round 1 schedule, as published by the Selection Committee, is short and tight. Registration, payment and choice filling opened on October 31 and close today, November 3, at 5 pm. Seat allotment processing takes place on November 4. The result comes out on November 5.

Students who are allotted a seat can download the provisional allotment order between November 5 and November 10 at 3 pm. The last date to join the allotted college is November 10 at 5 pm. The schedule is tentative, so check the official portal for any change.

Choices not locked by 5 pm today will be locked by the system on their own. After that point, no change to your college or course preference is possible.

Lock your choices before 5 pm, not at 5 pm

You can edit your preferences as many times as you like before the deadline. That freedom ends the moment choices are locked. If you do not lock them yourself, the system locks whatever you have entered, and no correction is allowed after that.

Do it early in the day. Check that every preference is in the order you actually want, then lock them well before the cutoff, since portals slow down near a deadline. Never share login details or OTPs with anyone, and trust only updates on the official website.

What it costs to register

Every candidate pays a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 1,000. On top of that, a refundable security deposit applies, and the amount depends on the seat category. It is Rs 30,000 for government medical colleges, Rs 1 lakh for government quota seats in self-financing colleges, and Rs 2 lakh for management, minority and NRI quota seats.

Treat the deposit as money held against your seat, not as a fee you lose. Still, check the amount for your category before you pay, because a wrong payment can hold up registration on the final day.

How to apply on the official portal

  • Visit the official Tamil Nadu medical selection portal and log in with your credentials.
  • Complete registration and pay the Rs 1,000 fee plus the security deposit for your category.
  • Fill your college and course choices in the order you prefer, with your top choice first.
  • Review the full list once, then lock your choices before 5 pm today.
  • Save a copy of your locked choices and the payment receipt for your records.

You can apply on the official Tamil Nadu medical selection portal, which is the only place where registration and choice locking for this round take place.

Keep these documents ready for joining

If you get a seat on November 5, you will need your papers ready fast, because joining closes on November 10. Keep your NEET PG 2026 score card and admit card, MBBS degree certificate, CRRI completion certificate, community certificate, nativity certificate, Aadhaar card, transfer certificate and character certificate in one folder, along with a photo ID such as a driving licence, voter ID or passport.

Students tracking other state rounds can compare the process with the Jharkhand NEET PG Round 1 allotment and the Maharashtra NEET PG CAP Round 1 choice filling updates. For the national picture, the MCC NEET PG counselling schedule runs separately for All India Quota seats.

What happens after today

November 4 is for seat allotment processing, and November 5 brings the result. If your name appears in the allotment list, download the order and report to the college by November 10 at 5 pm. If you do not get a seat you want, later rounds will follow, with the same discipline: register on time, order your choices with care, and lock them before the cutoff.

Today’s deadline is the whole story for Tamil Nadu PG medical aspirants. Registration, payment, choice filling and locking all end at 5 pm, and the result is two days away. Finish your choices now, while the window is still open.
