8 PM today: West Bengal NEET stray round is the last chance for MBBS/BDS seats in 2026

The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee has opened registration for the final round of NEET UG 2026 counselling today, and the window stays open for just nine hours. NEET UG 2026 qualified students who want an MBBS or BDS seat in West Bengal can register on the official portal till 8 PM tonight. The seat allotment result will be declared on October 23.
WBMCC published the revised schedule for the stray vacancy round on October 12. This round is separate from MCC’s national stray vacancy round, which is also closing today. The West Bengal round covers vacant state quota seats in the state’s medical and dental colleges.
What the stray round is for
The stray vacancy round picks up the seats that stayed empty after the earlier counselling rounds. Colleges across West Bengal still have unfilled MBBS and BDS seats, and WBMCC is running this round to fill them before the academic year moves on. Only NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates can take part.
Remember that this is the final stage. Once this round is over, there is no other way into a state quota medical seat for the 2026 session.
This is the last round of West Bengal’s NEET UG 2026 counselling. After October 23, the state’s medical admissions for this year are closed.

How to register before the 8 PM deadline
The registration takes place only on the official portal. Follow these steps carefully:
- Go to the official WBMCC website and open the UG Medical and Dental Counselling section.
- Click on the Online Stray Vacancy Round Registration link.
- Log in with your NEET UG roll number, application number, and password.
- Fill in the application form with your personal details, academic qualifications, category status, and West Bengal domicile certificate.
- Pay the counselling fee online on the same day through net banking, card, or UPI, and save the payment receipt.
- Check every detail in the form, submit it, and take a printout of the registration acknowledgement slip.
- Visit your designated verification centre on October 17 with the acknowledgement slip and your original documents.
Document verification on October 17: what to carry
Verification is physical, not online. You must appear at your designated verification centre between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on October 17. Carry the registration acknowledgement slip along with your NEET UG admit card, scorecard, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, domicile certificate of West Bengal, category certificate if applicable, ID proof, and passport-size photographs.
The committee will publish the list of verified candidates and the final seat matrix after 5:00 PM on October 17. Only candidates on that verified list can fill choices. Choice filling and locking runs from October 17 to October 18, so lock your preferences before the portal closes.
What this means for West Bengal aspirants
Medical admissions in West Bengal have been busy this week. Interest in West Bengal admissions has been rising this year, and the stray round is the last door for students who missed a seat in the earlier rounds or who want to upgrade their allotted college.
The tight timeline is the real challenge. Registration, fee payment, and form submission all have to happen today. If you qualify and you have not registered yet, do not wait for the evening rush. Portals often slow down close to the deadline, and WBMCC has said nothing about an extension.
After the result: reporting dates
The seat allotment result comes out by 12:00 noon on October 23. If you are allotted a seat, you must report to the college in person on October 23, 24, or 26 between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Carry the allotment letter, the verification slip, and all original documents when you report. Missing your reporting date usually means losing the seat.
