3,920 Students to Get Free JEE, NEET, CLAT Coaching in 29 Centres Across Telangana

The Telangana School Education Department will set up 29 Young India Institutes of Excellence inside Telangana Model Schools to give free coaching for IIT-JEE, NEET and CLAT to 3,920 government school students in the 2026-27 academic year. The department announced the plan in a release issued by the Director of School Education this week.
The move puts one coaching institute in each of 29 districts. Of the 29, twenty will run coaching for IIT-JEE and NEET, while nine will focus on CLAT, the national law entrance test. The state has released Rs 3.73 crore for the programme. This includes Rs 3.26 crore for paying part-time faculty and Rs 47.04 lakh for study material, according to the New Indian Express.
29 districts covered, four left out
The institutes will come up in 29 districts, leaving out Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hyderabad, Jogulamba Gadwal and Medchal-Malkajgiri, the Deccan Chronicle reported. Telangana has 194 Model Schools across 29 districts, all English medium from Class VI to Intermediate. The 29 coaching centres will be set up inside a selection of these schools.
Each JEE and NEET centre will have six faculty members. Each CLAT centre will have five. The department will engage external part-time faculty on an hourly basis for 152 working days. Faculty will be picked on qualifications, teaching experience and subject knowledge.
Concept classes, mock tests, remedial help: how the coaching will work
The programme will run on concept-based teaching with doubt-clearing sessions, assignments, mock tests and remedial support. Study material matched to the Class XI and XII syllabus and the three entrance exams will reach students at all 29 centres.
District education officers and principals of the identified schools will run the programme on the ground. The Additional Director of Model Schools and the state office will track student preparation and results.

The department says the plan is aimed at students who cannot afford private coaching. Private institutes charge lakhs for a full year of JEE or NEET preparation, and government school students have so far been shut out of that system.
This is the second big coaching push by the state. The Young India Institutes of Excellence already run across 93 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas with a Rs 10 crore annual budget for JEE, NEET and CLAT coaching. The new plan extends the same idea to Model Schools, which are mixed-gender English medium government schools.
Why Telangana students should pay attention
Timing matters here. JEE Main 2027 session 1 registration is expected to open in October, and NEET-UG itself is under review after a panel proposal to run it as a two-stage exam earlier this month. For a Class XII student in a Telangana government school, free structured coaching through the school year can change how seriously they can prepare for these tests.
Students following education news from the state will know the department has been spending big on schools this year, from integrated residential campuses to digital infrastructure. The coaching centres are the academic arm of that push: buildings and hostels matter, but test preparation is what decides college seats.
What students should do now
- Check your school notice board. The programme will be implemented through the identified Model Schools, so the first updates will come from your principal or teachers.
- Talk to your teachers about stream choice. Twenty centres are for engineering and medical aspirants, nine for law. Your Class XI-XII stream decides which centre serves you.
- Keep your syllabus study on track. The coaching will run alongside your Class XI-XII studies, not replace them. Boards and entrance exams reward the same foundation.
- Do not pay anyone. The programme is government funded. If someone asks for a fee or promises a seat at a centre, report it to your school.
