80.8% Cleared Paper 1: TN TET Result 2026 Out, Check Scorecard at trb.tn.gov.in

The Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has declared the TN TET Result 2026. The results of the special Teacher Eligibility Test for working teachers, held on July 4 and July 5 this year, were released on October 12. Lakhs of teachers across Tamil Nadu took the two papers.
Paper 1 is for Classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 is for Classes 6 to 8. TRB has published the final answer key along with the results. Candidates can log in to the official portal to see their marks and qualifying status.
80.8% in Paper 1, 38.3% in Paper 2: how the papers went
Paper 1 drew a strong pass rate. 80.8 per cent of the candidates who wrote Paper 1 cleared it. Paper 2 was far tougher. Only 38.3 per cent made it through, which means nearly two out of three candidates missed the cut-off there.
Both papers were held in OMR mode. Paper 1 took place on July 4 and Paper 2 on July 5. TRB evaluated the answer sheets against the revised final answer key, prepared after examining every objection that candidates had raised.
The final answer key is the last word. TRB has made it clear that the revised key cannot be challenged further.
Who could appear in this special TET
This was not an open test. It was the Special TNTET-1, held only for teachers already working in Tamil Nadu’s government, aided and recognised private schools. The state’s permission for this special sitting came through a government order in October 2025.
Teachers appointed on or before 1 September 2025, whether on time-scale, consolidated or part-time pay, were eligible to appear. The idea is simple. Teachers already in service get a fair chance to earn the eligibility certificate without leaving their classrooms.
The cut-off marks candidates needed
The minimum qualifying marks were fixed in the official notification. General category candidates needed 90 out of 150 marks, which is 60 per cent. The notification set lower qualifying marks for reserved categories: 75 marks for BC, BCM, MBC, DNC and PwD candidates, and 60 marks for SC, SCA and ST candidates.
Scoring above the cut-off is what grants the Teacher Eligibility Certificate. The certificate now carries lifetime validity, so qualified teachers do not need to take the test again.
How to check your TN TET result 2026
Keep your application number and date of birth ready. The check takes only a few minutes.
- Open the official TRB portal on your phone or laptop.
- Find the TN TET result 2026 link in the announcements.
- Enter your application number and date of birth.
- Your scorecard will appear on the screen.
- Download it and take a printout for your records.
The scorecard shows your marks and your qualifying status. TRB marks the status as “Qualified” or “Not Qualified”. Match your answers against the final answer key on the TRB portal to see exactly where marks were gained or lost.
If the page does not load, try after some time or switch browsers. Result portals always get heavy traffic in the first two days. For teachers tracking other eligibility tests, the JTET admit card for the November 1 exam is already live, and state-level tests such as the MH SET follow the same download pattern.
E-certificate within five days
Qualified candidates do not get the certificate on the same day. TRB says the Teacher Eligibility Certificate can be downloaded from the candidate’s dashboard five days after the result date. Save a copy for your school records.
Puducherry candidates should note one difference. TRB has published only their marks and the final key. Their eligibility certificates will come from the Puducherry school education department.
What to do after you qualify
A pass in the TET does not by itself hand you a job, but it opens the door. Qualified candidates can now apply for teacher recruitment drives and school board vacancies announced by the Tamil Nadu government and its departments. The certificate is the eligibility proof that recruiters ask for first.
Download the e-certificate the moment it goes live on your dashboard. Keep both a digital and a printed copy. Give one copy to your school management for your service records, since many schools update staff files with the new certificate. If you missed the cut-off, the final answer key is still useful. Study it to find the sections that cost you marks, and watch the TRB portal for news of the next sitting.
New results and admit card alerts are added to the results section regularly, so keep checking if you are tracking more than one exam.
