30 November Is the Last Date: Gujarat ST Students Can Still Claim Up to ₹2 Lakh a Year

ST students in Gujarat still have 25 days to apply for the Digital Gujarat post-matric scholarship, with the window closing on 30 November 2026. The SC window closed on 31 October, the OBC and SEBC windows on 30 September, and the MYSY merit scheme on 30 October. If you are an ST student studying in Class 11 or above in Gujarat, this is the scheme to check first.
What the scheme pays and who it covers
The scholarship covers students from Class 11 right up to PhD, including ITI, diploma, UG and PG courses at recognised institutes in Gujarat. The award depends on the scheme and the course, and it ranges from ₹940 to ₹2,00,000 a year. It covers tuition fees and a maintenance allowance, and hostel students can also claim food bill assistance.
Three ST schemes run on the portal. The central post-matric scholarship for ST students is for families with income up to ₹2.5 lakh a year. The state scheme for ST girls has no upper income limit above ₹2.5 lakh, and the state scheme for ST students covers families with income up to ₹6 lakh. Pick the scheme that matches your income slab, because the wrong choice can get the form rejected. A student with income under ₹2.5 lakh who applies under a state scheme instead of the central one risks rejection.
The two things students get wrong
First, the NSP OTR number. Fresh post-matric applicants must generate a One-Time Registration (OTR) number on the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in before they start the Digital Gujarat form. This needs Aadhaar face authentication on the NSP OTR app, so do it a day or two before you plan to submit.
Second, the form is not finished when you submit it online. Take a printout and hand it in at your college with self-attested documents before the last date. Your institute has to verify the form before any payment is made.
The portal stays open till 30 November, but the college verification step means the real deadline is earlier than the date on the screen. Get the printout to your college the same week you apply.
How to apply on the official portal
Apply only through the government portals. The main portal is the Digital Gujarat portal, and its Scholarship Services section opens the Gujarat State Scholarship Portal (GSSP).
- Generate your NSP OTR number on scholarships.gov.in first, using Aadhaar face authentication on the NSP OTR app.
- Register or log in on digitalgujarat.gov.in with your mobile number and email, then complete your profile with personal, Aadhaar, caste, income and bank details.
- Open Services, then Scholarship Services. The GSSP portal opens in a new tab.
- Select your scheme and the year 2026-27, enter your OTR number and finish Aadhaar eKYC.
- Fill in your institute, course, year of study, previous marks and fee details, then upload your documents.
- Submit before 30 November 2026, note down the application number, and take a printout to your college with the documents.
Documents to keep ready
Keep scanned copies in PDF or JPG format before you open the form: Aadhaar card, passport-size photo and signature, NSP OTR number, caste certificate, income certificate from the Mamlatdar or competent authority, Gujarat domicile certificate, marksheet of the last exam passed, bonafide certificate and fee receipt from your institute, and the passbook of an Aadhaar-seeded bank account in your own name. A freeship card is needed only for freeship card schemes, and a hostel certificate only for food bill or hostel claims.
Payment comes through Direct Benefit Transfer to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account, so check that your account is linked with Aadhaar on NPCI. That is the most common reason a scholarship amount does not reach the student even after approval.
What closed already, and what to do now
The SC window (reopened 1 to 31 October) is now shut. OBC, SEBC and EWS windows closed on 30 September. MYSY, the merit scheme for Gujarat students, closed on 30 October at 6 PM, and only help-centre document verification for those who already applied runs till 5 November. So the ST post-matric window is the one open door left this session.
Students in other categories can still plan ahead. The NMMSS scholarship for Class 9 to 12 students stays open on the National Scholarship Portal till 15 November 2026, and the Federal Bank Hormis Scholarship pays up to ₹1 lakh a year for first-year professional course students till 31 December. Our scholarships section lists every open award with its last date. For help with the Gujarat portal, the toll-free helpline is 1800 233 5500 from 10 AM to 6 PM.
